Upgig LLC ("UpGig", "we", "us") operates the UpGig platform, including the UpGig Jobs app for job seekers and the UpGig hiring platform for employers (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
Account information, such as your name, email address, password, and, for employer accounts, your company details.
Job seeker profile information, such as your phone number, location, headline, and profile photo.
Your resume and the information parsed from it, such as your work history, skills, education, and target titles.
Preferences you set, such as salary expectations, remote preference, and your auto-apply settings.
Employer content, such as job postings, candidate resumes you upload for screening (including bulk uploads), pipeline and hiring notes, careers page content, and interview scheduling details.
Job seeker activity, such as the jobs you view, like, pass, or save, the applications you submit (including through auto-apply), your search queries, and the cover letters and other materials generated for you.
Employer activity, such as AI resume scores, pipeline movements, messages, and interview activity.
Device and log data, and app usage and diagnostic events, including an approximate IP address and browser or device information that we record to operate the Service, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. If you enable notifications, we also store a push notification token for your device.
We use your information to provide and personalize the Service, including matching job seekers to jobs, tailoring application materials, applying on a job seeker’s behalf when auto-apply is enabled, scoring and organizing candidates for employers, sending notifications you have chosen, processing payments, maintaining security and preventing abuse, improving our features, and meeting legal obligations.
To power features you choose to use in the UpGig Jobs app (including resume parsing, job matching, cover letter and resume drafting, resume tailoring, interview preparation, and the career assistant) and employer-side resume screening on the hiring platform, we send the relevant content to our third-party AI provider, OpenAI, which processes it on our behalf to return results. Depending on the feature, this content may include a job seeker’s resume and the details in it (such as name, contact details, and work history), profile information (such as job titles, skills, experience, location, and salary preferences), text entered into AI features (such as chat messages and interview answers), and, on the employer side, candidate resumes and job postings submitted for screening.
In the UpGig Jobs app we ask for the job seeker’s permission before sending their information to OpenAI for these features, and they can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings, which turns AI features off. OpenAI processes this data as our service provider under contractual confidentiality and security obligations that require protections consistent with this Policy, and under its API terms it does not use the data we send to train its models.
AI output can be inaccurate and is presented for review, and we do not use it to make legally or similarly significant decisions about a person without a way for a human to review it. Employers remain responsible for their own hiring decisions.
With employers and their representatives: when a job seeker applies to a role, manually or through auto-apply, the application materials they choose to send (which may include a resume, a cover letter, and contact details) are shared with that employer, and may be delivered by email or through a third-party application system.
With service providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality and security obligations, including our hosting, database, authentication, and storage provider (Supabase), our AI provider (OpenAI), job-data providers and public job boards (including CoreSignal, Greenhouse, and Lever), our payment and subscription providers (our web payment processor, and Google Play with RevenueCat on Android), and our push-notification delivery provider (Expo).
For legal and safety reasons, when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or others.
We do not sell your personal information.
We and our service providers may process and store your information in the United States and in other countries where they operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including storing resumes in non-public storage, encrypting data in transit, and restricting access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can review and update your profile at any time. From Settings you can export the data we store about you and permanently delete your account, and you can control notifications. You can also delete your account using the steps on our account deletion page.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@upgig.ai.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information, except where we must retain it to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at privacy@upgig.ai and we will delete it.
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
Questions about this Policy, or requests about your personal information, can be sent to privacy@upgig.ai (or support@upgig.ai).
To delete your account and data, see our account deletion page.
